This tree is easily founded in the north-eastern area of United States, but it also grows in the south area that reaches Florida and Texas.
> TECHNOLOGICAL FEATURES
The sapwood is whitish and clearly distinguished from the colour of the heartwood, which is brown, quite dark and veined. It is a hard and heavy wood, with a medium and rough texture and generally, its fibre is straight, but at the same time is also elastic and flexible. Before being seasoned it has an intense and typical smell. It has a good resistance.

Seasoned on the open air, it has a specific weight that change from 650 to 700 Kg/m3.
> DRYING METHOD
Drying can be easily carried out, even if there is a little risk of collapse.
> MAIN USES AND WORKING
There is no difficulty to working this wood with all tools: screw and nail joints are easily made and resistant. Good results can be achieved by polishing and varnishing. The best sliced veneer and lumber are used for high class furniture making and interior design, or in carpentry and cabinet-makers, it is suitable for gun stocks, architectural woodworks and frames.
